Seminar: Clean Green Pakistan and Role of Society

Khanewal 7th February 2020: THE NGO WORLD in coordination with Deputy Commissioner office jointly organized a one-day seminar (under SDG 13)CLEAN GREEN KHANEWAL on ‘Prime Minister’s Vision to Make Pakistan Green & Clean and Social Responsibilities of the civil society in TMA Hall Khanewal.
The aim of seminar was to sensitize the stakeholders on the role of society about its social responsibilities to take climate action for the betterment of society. The seminar was organized to bring together influential persons from different walks of life to share initiative taken under CGP and enhance effective participation of community and activists.
THE NGO WORLD recognizes the key role that society play in tackling climate change and works closely with nonprofit organizations around the country and particular in district Khanewal. Considerable efforts are being made by us and other organizations in strengthening the adaptive capability and resilience of people.
Deputy Commissioner of district Khanewal Mr. Zaheer Abbas Sherazi was the chief guest while Assistant Commissioners of the four tehsils and notable personality of the district Mahr Imran Dhool were the guests of honour. More than 100 prominent social activists, parliamentarians, representatives of civil society, youth organizations, journalists, students, civil servants and other stakeholders attended the seminar.
Deputy Commissioner said that “Pakistan is among the most climate change affected countries.
According to vision of Prime Minister, present government is taking steps to make a clean and green Pakistan. Civil society can play effective role to mitigate this challenge through plantation, so that Pakistan can be saved from the risk of climate change. Students and volunteers can spread awareness in order to protect the environment. We have to make the sustainable utilization of our resources for the further successive generations”.
Mr. Imtiaz Ali Asad in his speech sensitized the participants on importance of plantation. He said government is trying hard to make the district clean and green, now it is our responsibility be part of these efforts and prove that society is mobilized and responsible.
On the occasion, Mahr Imran Dhool said in his address that Pakistan is among those fortunate states, which are blessed with every kind of resources. We have to accept climate change as a challenge. We have to clean our environment. It is our collective social responsibility to do Plantation and implement the PM Khan’s vision of clean and green Pakistan.
Chairman of THE NGO WORLD, Mr. Zafar Iqbal said, TNW is open to develop partnership for joint environmental initiatives aimed at networking, mobilizations and developing of capacity of youth, volunteers and social activists as future leaders and driving forces behind a new climate change regime.
On this occasion a memorandum of mutual understanding was signed between Deputy Commissioner Khanewal and Chairman THE NGO WORLD to enhance the efforts to make the district clean and green with participation of civil society.
